We are working with a leading firm involved in mobile systems technology. Due to continuing growth and success, they have identified the need to recruit a Test Technician to join their team.

This individual will work alongside Developers, Service Managers and Test Professionals to ensure that business requirements translate to testable Stories, and will then undertake focussed testing to ensure that functionality delivered meets the defined acceptance criteria before undertaking final Device Approval.

This is an opportunity for a junior Tester to progress their career by stepping up a level and further developing their skills with emphasis on mobile applications and networks.

Full support and training will be given to enable you to succeed.

Due to the fast paced nature of this role in which approved devices are regularly required by customers you will need to manage your work effectively and deliver according to the agreed work schedule.

For this role it is preferable that you have experience of testing mobile applications, however this is not essential. More important is to have a positive, questioning attitude and a strong desire to learn and improve.

You will ideally have a computing, engineering, technical or scientific degree or the ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing, though we will also look at candidates at college/A Level (or equivalent) standard.

You will be passionate about the use of mobile technology in the modern world, and capable of translating that passion into an enthusiastic approach to your work, inspiring others to always deliver the best possible user experience that can be achieved.

You will report to the Test Manager and Team Lead and will be required to give regular updates on your work.

Desirable skills & experience:-

- At least 1 year practical black box test experience, preferably focussed on mobile applications and devices

- ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing and / or a science, engineering, technology or computing qualification - after probation our client are willing to support studies/qualifications!

- Practical knowledge of the Development and Software Testing lifecycles, ideally to include at least one Agile methodology (ideally Scrum or XP)

- Knowledge of the UK (and ideally USA) mobile networks including test experience working on GPRS, 3G and optionally CDMA

- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems

- Customer-facing experience or exposure to recreating bugs reported by customers

- Understanding of the scientific method: observation and evidence gathering, deduction, prediction, testing of hypotheses, recording results

Full clean UK driving license
