Temporary Accounts Assistant - Central Newbury

PAY RATE DOE C10.50-12.00 PER HOUR

IMMEDIATE START: 2-3 MONTHS

An educational charitable organization based in central Newbury are looking for some immediate temporary support to work amongst the small finance team, and assist in the provision of a highly efficient finance administration service; including responsibilities for sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank and credit card reconciliations.  The successful candidate will hold key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key accountabilities:-

* Invoices & Credit Control

  • Raise invoices to organisations taking part in the various programmes
  • Process receipts from customers
  • Ensure prompt payment of all invoices
  • Assist customer with any queries
  • Advise management of overdue balances on a regular basis

* Purchase invoices and suppliers

  • Process supplier orders and invoices
  • Prepare payments to suppliers
  • Ensure payment of suppliers are made on time and deal with supplier queries; reconcile supplier account to supplier statements
  • Check and process expenses submitted by staff
  • Process company credit card transactions and reconcile the control account

* Bank Account

  • Process payments and receipts
  • Reconcile all bank accounts at least monthly
  • Process petty cash transactions

* Accounting

  • Assist the financial controller in the preparation of the monthly and annual accounts; assist in preparation of VAT return; assist in preparation of regular forecasts and budgets
  • Handling day to day supplier queries

Competencies, Skills & Experience Required:-

  • Demonstrable organisation skills
  • Good working knowledge of a financial system (preferably Sage or something similar)
  • Good Excel skills
  • High degree of accuracy and speed in data entry
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to handle difficult supplier enquiries
  • Finance qualification desirable

  • A self-starter with initiative, confidence, drive and flexibility to deal with unexpected situations or last-minute changes

Pay rate flexible DOE - c£10.50-12.00 per hour

Full time hours preferred but may be able to offer some flexibility for the right candidate.
